When You're "Too Much" For The World... Embodied Feminine Leadership In Action

Do you ever feel like you’re too much?

Like you feel too much…

or you want too much…

or your natural essence needs to be adjusted or contained in order to fit in with the world?

I’m so present to that in myself lately… the ways I have dimmed parts of myself that are too messy, loud, wild, or inappropriate for the world.

Especially as women, we play so many roles that require us to wear different masks. Motherhood alone asks us to inhabit a certain way of being with our children, while other parts of us recede into the background. Add in who we need to be in our professional lives, who we need to be in our relationships, as daughters, sisters, or wives, and we are often left with little context to just be fully ourselves, fully unguarded and honest.

That’s not all bad… it’s an amazing feminine superpower to be able to shapeshift.

It’s good to be able to animate different parts of ourselves.

But if we only ever exist in the roles and masks, we lose sight completely of who we are in our untamed hearts.

This is the kind of soul sickness that tends to erupt in midlife, when we start to have fewer fucks to give.

There are moments in life when we have an opportunity to unearth parts of ourselves and bring them into the light of day so they can be lived out more fully.

When we reckon with parts of ourselves that seem like “too much”, what we often find is that those things are medicine for us and gifts to the world.

We discover that we can be safe, even when we are being in our fullness and authenticity.

That’s exactly what happened for my dear friend and client, Jess. When she came to me for coaching, she was stepping into a big promotion as COO of her company. Our usual image of a role like that is an older white man in a suit. That person is serious, contained, polished… And Jess’s greatest magic is in her ability to be playful, joyous, and visionary.

I think there’s a natural tendency to say - “I need to turn down the volume on my playfulness so I can be taken seriously as COO in a male-dominated industry.” But what Jess found was quite the opposite. The more she anchored in her natural essence and created safety for herself to authentically BE that in her professional life, the more she thrived, and the more goodness she brought into her work.

I’m so excited to share this conversation with you between myself and Jess so that you can hear what’s possible when you let go of the “old ways” we were conditioned to do things, and embrace what feels like “too much” in ourselves.

When we lean into the feminine, and embodiment as leadership assets, we discover a rich treasure trove of fuel and resourcing that evolves ALL of us forward.

I want you to know that the world is hungry for your “muchness” - for the parts of you that you were taught to dim.

So grab a cuppa and join me and Jess for this enlivening conversation about the journey from burnout to embodied leadership, and one woman’s path to embracing her natural essence as an asset in her professional life.

To your wild unfolding,

Michelle
